Installing SATA Drive into IDE Motherboard

I am currently running the SIS 648 Max Motherboard. It only supports IDE hard drives as standard. It has a Seagate Barricuda 120GB Hard Drive right now. I was looking into purchasing a SATA Drive, but the only way is to get a SATA Card with 2 Internal Ports on it. I found a 1.5GBPS SATA card, but im afraid that may be too much for my motherboard to handle. I am also looking into purchasing a Wester Digital Caviar 1TB SATA 32MB Cache Hard Drive to install into the SATA Card. I want to be able to assemble the SATA Drive to run as primary and remove my IDE drive. Would this configuration work? Thanx for the help!!!!!!

Re: Installing SATA Drive into IDE Motherboard

You can try using a SATA to IDE converter. Your only issue then will be the HDD size limitation of your BIOS/motherboard.

As for the PCI addon card, the only HDD size limitation will be what the PCI card supports.
