Re: what Hard disk should i buy

I prefer Western Digital. I have heard and read some bad reports on Seagate.
Check your computer to see which kind to get. IDE or SATA. If you have the wide cables, get IDE, The small usually orange flat cable with small plugs are the SATA. Also , some computers have to have a special program or method to set up the SATA for the Operating System. However, if you are not using it for the main OS, it will usually work for extra storage. I have a 1 terabite SATA drive partitioned in 4 large partitions which work great for storage but couldn't put the os on it!

Re: what Hard disk should i buy

Either WD or Seagate are fine, but my personal preference is the Seagate disks.

Re: what Hard disk should i buy

is it a good idea to make sure of the SATA/IDE cables even if you plan on using it as

a backup drive w/ usb? the usb can not recognize sometimes but the cable will?

thanks
