Re: External Drive help
I just found this:
http://www.apricorn.com/product_deta...e=family&id=39 but from the description of it I don't know if it just copies the whole hard drive or if you can go in and explore your hard drive and only transfer certain files. |

Re: External Drive help
That looks like just an adaptor ( sinilar to the one I suggested ) . . once you have it connected, you should be able to browse the drive and copy the files you want to keep.

Re: External Drive help
The Apricorn adapter is a much better adapter and it comes with a version of Acronis.
You won't need any software to transfer selected files, "Sent To" or "Drag and Drop". Newegg has it for $35 w/$10 rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812161002

Re: External Drive help
I ordered the hard drive adapter off of newegg and it plugs into the hard drive, powers it and all that but when I open it up to look at the files on it, when I try to go into my account folder it says "access denied" and the only option it gives me is "ok". I can go into the guest folder but not mine. I'm quite positive that it's because the accounts on my old laptop had passwords. How do I (or is there even a way to) override this?

Re: External Drive help
You may need to take ownership of the files in order to copy them
