[SOLVED] Maxtor Onetouch Mac to Pc
Hi. I saved all my photos to the Maxtor using my Macbook. My Mac is now dead. I want to retrieve the photos using my PC. Maxtor people said to use a 3rd party software, but they won't tell me what that means. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Maxtor Onetouch Mac to Pc
How was the drive formatted? If it was FAT32, then the PC should be able to read it. What does it look like when you plug it into the PC? If it was formatted HFS for the mac, then I have found the best recoverysoftware running on a PC for mac drives to be r-studio. You can download the demo and see if it finds the files. You could also try MacDrive, I believe it has a 30 day trial. It will mount HFS drives on a PC so you could just copy your pics off.

Hi. Thanks for answering. I formatted the disk on my mac, but i don't know the difference between FAT32 and HFS. Whem I plug the Maxtor into my PC I have to go the device manager to find it. It just shows up as a USB storage device, but I don't see any way to actually open it up. I will try the r-studio and the macdrive software to see if one of those works. Thanks again.
Hi again. I downloaded a trial version of MacDrive. It worked perfectly. Thank you! You made my day! Last edited by dai; 05-30-2009 at 10:21 PM. |
