Unable to boot from HD after installing power supply
I installed a new power supply in my HP Pavilion m8400, and now when I try to boot it it says "disk boot failure, insert system disk or press any key to continue." It seems unlikely that the power supply itself is the cause of that problem but I might have hooked something up incorrectly when disconnecting and reconnecting all the power supply connections.
When I run HP Diagnostics, it detects the hard drive and says it is okay, but also says "no boot devices detected." iI also looked in the BIOS settings and the hard drive still shows up in the list. If I press ESC in order to get to the screen where you can select a boot device, the hard drive shows up in this list. However when I select that hard drive all I get is a blinking cursor that stays there indefinitely (or at least I think it does - I've waited several minutes and all that comes up is that cursor.) What could be the problem? The hard drive was working fine just before I installed the power supply, so it doesn't seem like it was damaged... |
