Recovering with Automatic Data Backup

HELP PLEASE, I did a recovery with automatic data backup on my hard drive, i have windows vista. Please tell me how i can recover all of my photos, I thought doing a recovery with an automated data backup, saved everything. Possibly in a back up file. Cant seem to find anything, please help if you know how I can retrieve- Thank you so much!!!!:

What software did you use to create the backup? You will probably need to use the same software to restore it. Backup software usually creates one big file with all the information it needs to restore your files, but doesn't save each file as a discrete file, it rolls all the data into one file, with a catalog that can restore all or selected files.
