SATA problems

Hi all, I'm new here and hoping someone can help me. I have just installed a new 150gb SATA drive. The BIOS recognizes it and it is set as secondary master. Windows will not recognize it at all. I plan to use it as a data drive. SATA setting in the BIOS was originally RAID but I changed it to IDE. Sorry if I'm being too vague, but I'm kind of in a hurry so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Re: SATA problems

Just in case you haven't looked. Is it in My Computer? If it is right click on it and select Format.

No it isnt showing there. The only place it is listed as a drive is in the BIOS. It isnt even in Disk Management.

It will not show in My Computer until it is formated . . Use Disc Management to format it.

BIOS only has RAID and IDE options. I was told by the manufacturer (ATI) that a controller driver wasnt necessary. The MOBO has three SATA connectors and it does the same with all of them.

That was going to be my next step, thanks. I have two cables and have tried them both, but I didnt buy them myself, they were given to me and I think they were made by some cheap company in guatamala.
