disk cannot defragment and chkdsk
hi,
i have sata 160 gb HD when i start defragment inbuilt winxp utility it show defragmention could not start. also when start checkdisk on any drive it show checkdisk unable to start and when i set startup checkdisk it show file system is raw and starts windows normally. however when i check the file system in my comp, system information it show file sytem is ntfs. my pc became very slow. (i can access system only it become slower) |

Open cmd. make sure you are in the right drive example drive "C".
Then type chkdsk /f answer yes on the question. After the process is finished you can defrag you drive. Remember to do this on both drives if it the same message on both drives. I did this with my USB drive. Worked like a charm. |

Starnge issue, first thing I would do is download the bootable CDrom image for the hard drive manufacturer's test utility and verify if the drive has errors...
