hard drive replaced-power problem to drives
A few weeks ago, the hard drive on a friend's EMachine T4060 started making a grinding sound and wasn't recognized as a bootable disk. I suggested he purchase another hard drive and reload. He replaced the Maxtor 60g with a WD 500g Cavier Blue and now the system is not getting power to the CD, Floppy Drive and fan. The green light does come on and stays on front of the machine. The CPU fan also comes on for a second when you power the system back down. Nothing appears on the monitor. The fan on the power supply is running. I tried putting the old drive back in - previously the system would power to A: Now nothing. He did not originally set the jumpers correctly, but I fixed that on the new drive and the old one when I tried taking the new one out and reinstalling it.
Any suggestions? dw |
