System boot disk failure
I have a computer I built from a DELL I bought all I did was take DELL hardrive and the CPU and bought everything else new from store. I had it going perfectly no poblems. Well since I got kicked out of my parents house they took back the CPU and Hardrive I bought a new Hardrive from geeks.com Seagate Barracuda 500GB 32MB CACHE ect ect. same with the CPU bought new CPU aswell 5200+ AMD Athlon Duel Core but lets get to the point of the problem. I load my computer up and it goes through untill Verfiying DMI Pool and it trys to boot from CD and it gives me "SYSTEM BOOT DISK FAILURE: INSERT DISK AND RESTART" now remember this is a brand new hardrive no OS on it. I have a burnt copy of OS but not sure if its right OS CD not sure if its bootable ect. The hardware should be fine not totally sure if the new hardrive is just faulty or ect it seems fine though the motherboard recognizes the hardrive. I've try everything even setting the CDROM to load before hardrive in BIOS I am guessing I need a real WindowsXP from store instead of burnt copy. Anybody can help please let me know.

Just an FYI, you do need to set the boot order in the BIOS setup so that the CD ROM is the first boot device listed, followed by the HD. While you're in the BIOS, make sure you can actually see both the CD ROM and the new HD listed. If all this is true, then you should be able to boot to a bootable CD and install windows on a HD. . |

Re: System boot disk failure
Since we can not assist you without you having a legitimate copy of the OS disk, this thead is now closed. You need to get a valid OS disk and then we can offer assistance.
