missing operating system

I replaced my acer ( vista ) 160 gb 5400 rpm hardrive with a seagate 320 gb 7200 rpm hd. But now I get a ( missing operating system ) message. How do I get around this problem and get my notebook up and running again ?

Did you install the OS on the new HD? Hard Drives ship blank so you need to install the OS on teh new drive...

notebook powers down when loading 1st recovery disc, having no luck solving

not that I can see, it powers down about an hour into the 1st recovery disc.

pxe-e61 : media test failure , check cable. pxe-mof : exiting pxe rom. bootmgr is missing, press ctrl+alt+del to start. Is what I see now

OK so it's not finding the vista boot manager, the pxe error is from it trying to locate an OS on a network boot server. Now to figure out why it restarts.
