Pin Is this 1TB hard drive good?

I saw this hard drive at Fry's for a great price, but when I searched through google, I see no other places have this drive at all, it's only available at Fry's but I have seen a drive similar to it but the model # is ST3100340AS and not ST1000340AS, are they the same hard drives? thanks

Re: Is this 1TB hard drive good?

It looks like that is a Kit number rather then a drive number.

if you have ever tried imaging (data back up) or defraging or data recovery on a 1TB drive ............... you will soon learn they lose their shine !

multiple drives of 500GB cost more but are far more practical!

Hard to tell it may be, does Frys list any OEM drives?

Re: Is this 1TB hard drive good?

they do but none are Seagate 1TB drives though, I've read about the ST3100340AS drive having problems, I don't want to be stuck with that drive, I emailed Fry's to check on the packing label for me to see what is listed on the label, I noticed that the package box is different from the other Seagate packages that I've seen as well

Re: Is this 1TB hard drive good?

The problem drives were pulled from vendors in early December they will have the same basic part number ST3100340AS SD15-7200.11 but the series number will change (7200.11)
