RAID 5 Server Shuts Down
Hey all!
I am having an issue with a few servers when trying to rebuild drives that are in a RAID 5 array. It's odd, when I pull out the bad drive, then let it rebuild its fine. Once the rebuild fails (if it does fail) then the server shuts down or reboots completely. Now this shouldn't happen. RAID is used for conserving data and redundancy. These servers should be able to loose a drive, fail the rebuild and the server should not go down. That's one of the main points of RAID 5. If any of you have any ideas as to why its doing this, help would be greatly appreciated. Side Note: also upon rebooting the server stops in the BIOS saying that to hit Ctrl M for config utility or any key to continue. How do I bypass this so the server just boots up normally? Thanks guys! |
