HDD permissions
I built a new computer, and instead of backing up my old hard drive i decided to use as an external hard drive. I have a cord that transfers the old hard drive to a usb port. But when I try to open things or change things or move things from my old hard drive to the new one it says I do not have permission to do this. My username is an administrator, so I know that's not the problem. Does anyone else?
~Thanks in advance |

Re: HDD permissions
You may need to take ownership of the folder(s) on the old HDD causing you issues.
Try this from the command line: takeown /f directory_name_causing_grief /r /d y icacls directory_name_causing_grief /grant administrators:F /t |

Re: HDD permissions
Sorry, I typed the commands in lower case but they are case sensitive it appears. Should be:
takeown /F dir_name /R /D y Same with the /T on the end of the icacls command. |
