I have a gateway computer and this is the message I'm getting when I turn it on. boot failure - system halted. Could someone please help me with this?

either you have a bad harddrive or going bad harddrive ...try using you XP recovery disk and attempt a XP repair ....or you might consider just buying a new Harddrive and install it in the master location ...load xp and the gateway hardware drivers onto the new drive. use the old drive as a secondary drive...your files will still be accessible. post back with results

check you can see the h/d listed in the bios
d/load and run the hard drive makers diognostic utility on the hard drive http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
