pc will not boot up

Hi there.. The problem started with the pc switching off as soon as i went online.. So i tried going to the tendmicro site and do the housecall thingy. After that the pc would boot up just before the windows screen and turn blank.. So i tried the f8 option to get into safe mode, but it just goes to a blue screen and asks me which drive. I choose the hdd, and then it just goes blank again. The pc does not switch off, its just a black blank screen.. Then i tried taking the cmos battery out and leaving it for a while; put it back in and the same thing. Im really not sure what to do, as im not that savvy when it comes to pcs. Can anyone help please?? I will answer any questions as best i can, thanx.

Re: pc will not boot up

I would recommend running a repair installation of XP.
Read this guide for the correct steps in doing this:
