Moving a slave HD to another PC
I've got a ton of data one this HD that I have moved to another computer so I can use said computer to transfer the data to an external hard drive. (the USB 2.0 is broken on the other PC).
I've installed the drive and it is recognized as the Primary Slave Drive. However, I can't see the drive in My Computer. I thought I could just take the slave from one PC and drop it into another. I've attached an image of the drive in computer management. [IMG] [/IMG]'Microsoft Management Consol' says I can "move disks to another computer" by doing this: Open Command Prompt. Type: diskpart At the DISKPART prompt, type: rescan At the DISKPART prompt, type: list disk Make note of the disk number of the disk you want to import. At the DISKPART prompt, type: select disk n At the DISKPART prompt, type: import I've never done this before. Has anyone done this before? Is it going to format the drive? Should I try something else before this? What have I done wrong? :) Any information/guidance/knowledge is appreciated, Ratty -x- |

Re: Moving a slave HD to another PC
I tried right-clicking but the only options are,
- convert to basic (format the drive) - properties There is not an 'import' option. Last edited by angryratman; 03-03-2009 at 02:14 AM. |
