How do I reset an external hard drive to a like new state, there is a partition on it that I can't find, but there isn't anything important on the hard drive, so I just want to do something to have a like-new hard drive.

Download killdisk and zero wipe the drive, then in disk management initialize the drive, create a new partition and reformat to NTFS ( assuming this is a windows box )
