Question ATA Password Protected HDD - accessi via USB possible?

Hi Folks,

I would like to be able to access my ATA password protected hard disk when
connected using a USB enclosure. This would give the benefits of good
protection using built-in firmware of the hard disk which is normally only
accessible by entering the password during BIOS boot up with the disk as HDD primary.

I'm not looking at the case of a forgotton password - just some utility
which would allow me the enter the known password when connecting such a
protected disk via the USB instead of as a main drive for the laptop (an IBM
T42 in this instance).

Anyone have any ideas of such a utility? Cheers from Mike
