Maxtor 1Tb External USB Light Flashing

Hey guys im having an issue with my Maxtor basics external hard disk (USB)

Basically what HAPPENED was i was copying a few files from computer to another computer using my external hard drive. just a minute or two after copying the files off the external to the other PC my sister came along sat down, my mum called my sister and she got up and accidentally pulled out the power cable from back of my External

now after that happening, my external light goes on and off flashing every half a second, non stop. normally when my hard disk turns on the you hear the disk revving up and then u hear the tick as the laser goes over or whatever happens but now NOTHING happens it just sits there with this pitiful yellow light flashing on and off every .5 of a second.

I really hope someone has ANY idea what could be wrong and how to fix it
