Is the BIOS right?
just built my computer and it says IDE channel 0 master = TssTcorp CDDVDW SH-S (CD,DVD drive)
IDE Channel 2 Master = ST380811AS (hard drive) shouldent they be the otherway round and my hard drive is SATA not IDE, help

Hi,
You are okay. Ususally IDE channel 0 and 1 are the IDE channels for PATA devices and any after that are SATA. It refers to SATA as IDE, that is normal.

how come, when i try and install Vista it just stays at the POST screen and all it says is boot from CD/DVD...

are you using a 80 wire cable on the drive with
black,grey,blue plugs recheck the jumper on the back of the drive is set to master and you are plugged into the end black plug if you k/board is usb check usb is enabled on boot in the bios

my hard drive is SATA.
my k/board is enabled to be USB. BIOS says this about my dvd drive: IDE channel 0 master = TssTcorp CDDVDW SH-S

i said check the in bios that usb is enabled on boot
either the drive is not seeing the disk or your k/b is not registering your keystroke if the bios is set ok try a cmos reset cmos reset turn the computer off remove the power lead from the back take the side off remove the cmos battery move the cmos jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pin 2 and 3 and the back to pins 1 and 2 reinsert the battery put the side on replug in the power lead boot the computer there can be 2 solder points you touch with a screwdriver 2 pins you touch with a screwdriver or use a jumper a cmos clear switch or button there will be a diagram and instructions in your manual

thanks for you help but iv solved the solution, i downloaded vista on a disk and used my activation code to get it to work.
whay should i do onece iv installed my motherboard disk, is there anythibng special to download , or do
