EEK! im a new user of external hard drive and....

i just bought a western digital my book essential. was wondering, why are both the Memeo auto sync and backup options are 30 day trial? i already spent 160 dollars on this drive.. the package didnt give any hints that id have to pay for these options..or are they really optional and not really needed?
all i want to do is backup regular basis onto the drive thats all.

Use Windows backup - you already have it... Start -> programs ->accessories -> system tools -> backup

I would run the backup win win backup first to make sure you have a good backup in place, then delete the other files...

I'm not familiar with the WD backup software, but that's lame if it's really only a 30 day trial. I believe Seagate, LaCie, and Simpletech include backup software that's easy to use for free with most of their drives. Consider returning it for one of those perhaps.

Re: im a new user of external hard drive and....

thx wishingdigijosh, but the drive i bought was from the now bankrupt circuit city chain store. all sales are final lol. so im stuck with it. 45 minutes ago, ive decided to run memeo auto backup option. but once again, iam thinking about unpluging the external drive...removing last backup and restarting fresh again. i can backup those files via windows live skydrive which is excellent temp online storage site.
