Please Help, I got a new computer and unwisely plugged in my 320GB Hard Drive into a Vista PC. I couldn't get it to open on the new PC or old PC but yet is still found under the Device Manager for both. I tried testdisk and the steps by Deleted090308 (Have you "lost" a hard drive, partition or files in your computer?) but everything was running fine until Letter H. I don't have a write option rather this screen which is found attached. I do not want to lose my data as opening the drive under XP keeps asking me to re-forrmat, what do I do? I followed the steps but did I miss something, start over, or go for a deeper search? Thanks to all for viewing and help.

Re: Deleted090308: Need Help with WD 320GB HD which was plugged into Vista
scan your drive with Getdataback for NTFS (trial version) if this recovery program can see your data to your satisfaction ............ then pay $79.00 for a serial keycode and you can recover the entire drive contents to another hard drive
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...for-NTFS.shtml after your recovery is complete ................. reformat the drive and live happily ever after R-Studio is another EXCELLENT choice ................... the top two for under $100.00 IMHO

Re: Deleted090308: Need Help with WD 320GB HD which was plugged into Vista
I'm going to assume this is an external drive, remove the drive from the enclosure and connect it driectly to the SATA or IDE port based on teh drive. If IDE verify all jumper settings. Try test disk again when not cennected as an external. If testdisk cannot fix the disk, then try either r-studio or getdataback and recover the files to another drive. Both of these programs will run in demo mode and show you what files they will be able to recover, Then you can purchase the license for the one that does best... both are less than $80.00 US

Thanks both Linderman and Raptor_pa for your replies. I got the drive to recover after searching for another one of Deleted090308's message replies to another user which got it up and running. Thank you both for your time and suggestions.
