Virus
I picked up a virus and it seems to have gone into my hard drive, the computer keeps stating and going into a blue screen. I have tried to reimage the computer and the virus prevents the computer from starting, it still goes to a blue screen dumping the virtual memory. Please Help!!!
This is a HP notebook dv9230 Last edited by garman; 01-26-2009 at 05:58 AM. Reason: type of computer |

Re: Virus
It's not likely caused by the virus if it blue screens at boot up, depending where it boots. When you say you tried reimaging, is this with the manufacturer's recovery disk or how? gET THE STOP ERROR CODE FROMT HE BLUE SCREEN ( SOMETHING LIKE sTOP 0XC00###### ) and search that code at support.microsoft.com for potential causes. If you are trying to restore from the manufacturer's disk then you could also try zero wiping the disk with killdisk or D-BAN before installing, this will ensure all traces of any virus are gone. W What virus was it? Did your anti virus pick it up?

Re: Virus
I agree 100%with Raptor ............ I am going to throw in all my "chips" on the hardware issue bet also ...........
I would be running Memtest 86 .......the bootable CD to check your memory sticks ......and also download the hard drive manufacturers DOS bootable hard drive diagnostic utility (free) I am very confident you will find a hardware defect in one or the other of these components
