Hi guys, i'm new here so not quite sure what the dealio is, but here goes...
This morning when i got up i flicked the PC on. Worked Fine. Watched an episode of how i met your mother =p turned it off (safely), as i was goin out for a little while. when i got back and turned her back on, my 1tb seagate hard drive wasnt showing up in "My Computer". i thought that was pretty odd so i decided to restart. same deal. i tried disk management, No sign of it. so i turned it off, opened the case and checked all of my cabling. all fine. i mean, perfect. tried again, nothing. decided it may be a sata port problem... nope, tried them all. Tried plugging in via E-SATA. Nothing. Tried using a SATA to USB adapter externally... still nothing. Now, when i say nothing, i dont mean windows just doesnt recognise it, i mean, there is no evidence it is even plugged in at all, ever. BIOS shows nothing, my POST screen shows nothing, its as if its not there. The hard drive boots up fine, makes no strange noises, no bad smells. its as if SATA Data just isnt plugged in. Any idea what could have happened? and any idea how i could get it back? even temporarily, i just dont wanna lose all of that data =( ANY help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Me

Re: SATA HDD Stopped Being Recognised
i didnt put that part in my little rant?
well. needless to say i tried that. Anyway, wouldnt the SATA to USB adapter do the same thing? *sigh* I'm fairly certain that the circuit board on my hard drive is somehow screwed. Any idea how i could get a new one/test it? |
