EEK! 2 problems with 2 different WD External Hard Drives

Hi,

I hope someone can help me out here...

Problem 1
My partner has a WD My Book 1TB external hard drive. We went to plug it in to my laptop last night so we could watch movies that were saved on it.

When we go to click on any of the folders on the hard drive its coming with an error message that is along the lines of "access denied F:/ parameter incorrect". Also just running the mouse along the folders they are saying they are empty which isnt right. I've clicked on properties and it is syaing that the disk uage is correct but there is nothing on there. Is there anyway to fix this problem at all??

Problem 2

My WD Elements HD is having a similar problem. Disk usuage is stating that there is data on the HD but when I go to open it from clicking on the icon, no folders appear at all and they aren't hidden. Is there anyway to fix this??

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Re: 2 problems with 2 different WD External Hard Drives

I'm having the same problem w/WD External Hard Drive. I am trying to backup from Toshiba Qosmio notebook to WD Passport and get Disk Error message. I just looked at WD booklet...didn't look earlier and it doesn't indicate compatibility w/Vista. Is that the problem?
Thanks.

I dont think its a vista compatability problem .......... look in vista disk management and see if the drive shows up there ?

Re: 2 problems with 2 different WD External Hard Drives

Thank you Linderman!! I didn't give up yesterday w/problem--yes, drive was there--did look at disk management--I don't think I did anything there. I finally formatted the external hard drive as the final error message was no NTFS something--sorry, I forget exactly what it said. In any event, it worked! Thank you again for taking the time to read and reply. :-)
