After windows installation, computer stops at RAID utility

Hi everyone,

I have a problem installing my Seagate 1 TB SATA hard drive (it’s my only hard drive). My mobo is an Asus a7n8x Deluxe and doesn’t detect automatically SATA hard drive. I had to boot from my windows CD and install the SATA drivers. I was able to install windows on one of the partitions of my hard drive.

The real problem appeard when the computer restarted. Everything loads normally until I get a RAID utility warning. It says : « SiI 3112A SATARaid BIOS Version 4. 2. 47 Copyright … » and on the next line it says : « Press Ctrl+S or F4 to enter RAID utility ». I tried to enter in the RAID utility without success.

I went back to my BIOS to see if my hard drive had been detected but unfortunately, it wasn’t the case. I checked my cables and jumpers and everything is fine. Does anyone have an idea of what I must do the get into windows ?

Thank you very much for your help.

Dom

Re: After windows installation, computer stops at RAID utility

and welcome to the Forum

Go back into BIOS and turn off RAID . . set it to Autodetect/IDE

You may have to set the drive jumpers for SATA 1.5 and not SATA3

Re: After windows installation, computer stops at RAID utility

Hi simpswr and thank you for your answer.

I'm not sure I know how to disable the RAID. When I enter Primary Master, it says IDE HDD Auto-Detection...is it what you are talking about? The only other option I saw is in the Advanced BIOS Features...RAID or SCSI Card Boot (it is on SCSI).

My computer still doesn't detect my HDD in primary master even though I already install windows.

Thank you again.

Re: After windows installation, computer stops at RAID utility

All BIOS are not the same, but within the RAID settings should be an option to turn RAID off . . was the previous drive SATA?

If not, set it to RAID and maybe it can figure it out

Re: After windows installation, computer stops at RAID utility

Yes, my last hard drive was SATA and it worked fine (but it had only a capacity of 80GB...which was quite limited).

I don't have RAID settings in my BIOS...or I can't find them if they do exist. Something I forgot to tell you is that I had to disconnect my HDD to install windows because I couldn't go further if my HDD was detected. I disconnected it and reconnected it after to complete windows installation. Then, the computer restarted and it still doesn't detect my HDD. However, when the RAID utility page appears, it says the number of my HDD "ST31000340AS".

Thank you for your time.

Re: After windows installation, computer stops at RAID utility

Which drive did you disconnect for the installation?

Re: After windows installation, computer stops at RAID utility

First, I disconnected my maxtor 80 GB and then I connected my new hard drive (Seagate 1000 Gb). However, I wasn't able to access my windows cd to install it. I then disconnected my HDD and then, I have been able to access the installation of windows. I reconnected my HDD (this is my new one) and completed the installation. After the installation, the computer restarted but stopped at the RAID utility page.

Thank you
