WD 500 drive became unformatted

Running xp, computer scan disc started and said that E drive wasn't formatted. Newish drive, been working fine for 6 months. I presume I shouldn't reformat! Is there anything I can do to get all my data back?

Thanks, device manager does recognize the drive, so there is hope. I will try and be back. kb
