Single Hard Drive Replacement

Any Ideas?
I have a Dell XPS 200 with a Western Digital SATA hard drive. The drive is failing. I have a replacement, but the XPS 200 is set up with only ONE hard drive connection. How can I set up the new drive as a boot drive and eventually replace the old??

Put it on the next Sata cable on the motherboard, then when it comes up, partition and format it and away it will go. When you get the second one up and running, then I would clone the boot drive to the second one, then remove the one that is failing.
