[SOLVED] hearing problem!
i hear a kind of noise from my segate sataST380215AS
just wanted to know is tha normal for a harddisk which is 3 months old..

That would depend on the type of noise you are hearing. A low (almost inaudible) noise might just be the HD working, but if it is a loud clicking (repetitive) noise indicates a HD failure is coming.
What is the type of noise you are hearing? Are you sure it is from the HD? Bill |

yep its the hd cause previously i had an ide hd and it also used to creat noise like small trrrrrrrr.....trrrrrrrrrrrr...mainly when the hd usage was extensive....now its the same but i only bought this one 3 months ago:(..the noise is very low..like when i turn on the room fan i cant hear it

I would backup your data and run the Diagnostic Utility from the HD manufacture:
http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287#maxtor I would also run chkdsk /r: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265 If it fails or still appears loud to you, I wound RMA the drive. Thanks, Bill |
