Please HELP -- Hard Drive not shown
Hello:
I will really appreciate any help on this issue please. I have a PC Sony Vaio RC110 with Win XP. I had 2 drives installed. Originally PC came with one Samsung 250 Gb but I added one WD 150 GB since is faster. I had SATA0 - WD 150Gb and all installed like windows and all. SATA1 was the older s\Samsung. I left it as a back up drive or additional drive so my sistem was using WD 150GB to load windows and programs. I had a problem yesterday with a virus and I ran norton and delete several virus but later, I turned off my PC and pc wont started windows again. No sound or beep .......... So, I switched drives and returned my older hard drive to SATA0 to make the recovery process and put my pc as oem factory. I did it and everything fine so I wanted to recover my data from my WD 150gb so I put it on SATA1 and started system but now system tells me detected a new hard drive and cant see anything......when I want to browse tells me need to format and if I check contents system shows me o bytes ...... is there any way i can see all my info in that drive without format it ? Probably i am doing something bad .......I am new on this ......have some computer knowledges but thats all ...........i will really apprecuate any help on this matter........ Regards Frank |

Re: Please HELP -- Hard Drive not shown
You could try testdisk or photorec. They are command line based, so not as easy to use as the GUI recovery softwares, but they are free. there is a sticky here with the testdisk walkthru. You could also try recuva from here http://www.recuva.com/ it has a gui interface, but I've never used it so I can't speak to it's effectiveness.
