second hard drive

Running vista.I have a hard drive that was external that i want to install in my pc.
It has data on it i want to keep.
I attached the ribbon into a blue slot in the pc and also plugged in the power to the drive.The drive is what Slave?or Master?
It does not show in my pc.
Thanks in advance for any help

end black plug is master
middle grey plug is slave
you need to look at the diagram on the drive and set the jumper
once you can see it listed in the bios
look for it in disk management

one drive when powered up makes no sound.dead?
The other is a maxtor and is coffusing with slave master jumper.Diagrams are kinda retarded

not really worth bothering with decent sized drives are cheap these days
