Hard Drives or Laptop?

HI, I'm having quite a dilemma right now in less than 2 months I've gone through 3 different harddrives, the 3rd I got last week...The first problem was that I accidently sat on my laptop and on the exact area where my hardrive(Western Digital 5400 250gb) was under. Then my computer froze and I later found out my Hard Drive was a goner..Computer Tech Store dude plugged the Hard Drive in some wires and said theres actually no power going into the HDD and he couldn't hear any disks spinning..So I bought a 2.5" Seagate 160GB 7200 HDD, and that was working untill, one day I got fed up with vista and tried to downgrade...All of a sudden the installations would mess up, I tried to install XP about 6 times, and each time a different file would get corrupt or is missing. Then I take the Hard Drive back to the tech shop, and he says he's never seen so many bad sectors on a HDD before in his life...So I took the HDD and got it replaced for free and got a Seagate 250gb 7200 because they didnt have any 160 gb's left in stock. So you can imagine how happy I was, but just about an hour ago my computer just restarted for no reason, no BSOD btw. Then I got this message after the boot screen
"For Realtek blah blah(my wireless network card)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM"

Now this is the exact same message as I got from the first problem, where I accidently sat on my laptop..BUT!!! this time I booted up rather than last time it would just freeze at that screen forever. SO.....My question is am I just having plain old bad luck with HDD's or do I have to send my laptop to TEXAS(im in canada btw) to get it fixed under warranty.

My laptop is a Gateway T-1628 and I bought it refurbished, oh if it matters I also upgraded my memory when I replaced the first Hard Drive. Also my wireless network keeps disconnecting like its not noticeable when im browsing but when I'm downloading It goes all the way up then down and so forth, I know its disconnecting because I've been logged of my msn 10 times in the past hour for no reason, and I think its my laptop because I dont get disconnected when im online in my ps3.

Thanks in Advance
