Extremely Slow USB external WD640Gb drive?
Hey all,
I have a compaq w4000 evo, 2Gb RAM, and have recently purchased this Western Digital 640Gb external drive which was originally formatted Fat, I re-formatted (quick) to NTFS, and proceeded to transfer data to it, having left it alone for like 6 hours, I returned to find that only 2 video files had been transferred and was still working on the rest. I have also a 32Gb external which transfers nearly at the same rate as to Local disc. Have I done wrong in doing a quick NTFS format?? Can there be another explanation for this ultra slow transfer rate? Thnx guys NT
