Re: view harddrive

It might be a better scenario if you would tell us what the computer is doing that makes you think it has burned something up.

Re: view harddrive

The easiest thing would be to purchase a enclosure and install the drive in it then you connect to the laptop by usb, you can find these for as little as $15.

Be carefull that you purchsae the correct one for your drive some are 2.5 and some 3.5, you would need a 3.5, some are ide and some are sata so checkout what drive you have in your desktop

Re: view harddrive

about 2 months ago , i returned home & my computer would not start up. I determined it was a burned spot on the board in my power supply. Ordered & installed a new one. Computer ran for several days; Ileft side panels off. Then while using it one morning , sparks came from computer and it went dead. Have not located the origin of the sparks visually, and have done no more trouble-shooting till this point. Any suggestions or ideas are and will be appreciated.

Re: view harddrive

Yes you can order a enclosure from tiger, newegg or zipzoomfly to name a few.

As far as the desktop, maybe the new psu failed it does happen especially with cheap psu's.
Sparks are never a good thing but if you could barrow a psu to try in it that would be the place to start
