Hello. Recently purchased (10 days ago) a acomdata eSATA 2.0usb 500g external hard drive. As would anyone, I backed up my laptop files on it before I did a complete format and fresh install of windows xp. Got the laptop all up and working again, plugged in my acomdata drive and browsed through the files just for checking purposes as I decided to keep all pics and music on that drive from now on without compromising my laptop. Couple of days go by and I decided that I would like to back up some more data to my acomdata storage device. Plugged it in, turned it on, waited, waited some more... no connection to laptop. Not recognized at all. Tried 2 different computers to verify that my usb on the laptop wasn't the problem, tried another usb cord , NOTHING. acomdata turns on, spins up, lights up all as normal, but NOTHING. Is there anything I can do? I don't want to take it back for an exchange just yet because I want the data, not a new device. keep in mind, if I open it its a total loss if no data is recovered as warranty will be no longer valid. Any quick suggestions? Only got till tomorrow for an exchange policy to be effective.
