OS: win XP Service pack 1


Lost hard drive

Install HD as Slave Cmos shows hard drive installed! But Win XP or Dos there is no drive there. Will do Maxtor boot CD today to see if it does anything? Thanks any help would be great!

if this is a new hard drive ...... it will need to be formatted before it will be seen and usuable in windows ?

you will see the drive and can format the drive from within Disk management or use the hard drive manufacturers software to set-up the drive ?
