OS: win XP Service pack 1


can't write to hard drive

installed hard drive everything looks good. Install windows up until windows restarts system. Then goes back to start over again. The hard drive never retains any of the data?

Used from another computer, I formatted it as slave in the first computer.

Tell us how you have it hooked up.

If IDE; Is it primary or secondary? What else is on the ribbon cable? What brand name is the drive? Where did you place it on the ribbon cable? How are the jumpers set.

If Sata; Do you have all the Sata options enabled in the bios? Do you have Sata set as IDE in the bios? Do you have Raid disabled?

What I suspect, is that you don't have it set up quite right yet. This information should help and please give us the specs of your rig so we know what we are dealing with.
