Need to back up data - Motherboard failed
Hi, so my laptop's montherboard failed and im going to be sending it into HP for a free repair since i guess it is a common problem with HP Pavilion dv6000's. But anyway it came unexpectedly, and i didnt back up my data, which i have a bunch of pictures and stuff i would like off of it. and my mom happens to have the same computer as me, would it be possible to replace my harddrive with hers for a little bit so i can take off my data? Or are there huge risks to this? Any help would be great, thank you!

Re: Need to back up data - Motherboard failed
You will need some sort of external caddy. They connect via USB/Firewire and I suspect it will be the easiest and cheapest way to extract what you need. It wont damage anything for you to try the HDD in the notebook though. Slot it in and see if it loads it. All drivers should be the same, as long as its exactly the sme notebook it came from.
