power issue

ok so i came home and my comp was not running
tried to restart nothing no beeps lights nothing
triing power supply first still nothing
took out hd to put in an external case plugged in ide cable green light came on plugged power into hd light goes out and nothing happens
tried different hd in case worked fine.

really need some data family pictures most importantly along with some other stuff. yes i did back them up but a month ago so there is some new stuff that is not backed up

wife wants to kill me about those pics
please help

"lost" sorry what does thst mean?
the hard drive doesnt not get power in an external case. Case works with other hd.

i would suspect something took out the power supply while you were out

what are you running
video card
cpu
m/board
ram
power supply
brand
wattage

check the listings in the bios for voltages and tempretures and post them


what was the brand and wattage of the other power supply you tried
