[SOLVED] Strange Disc and Hard Drive Conflict.

I just got a new computer from a friend and so I opened it up and starting swapping parts between my old computer and new computer. Hit comp was set up having two disc drives in an upper half. Those both connected to the motherboard via one IDE cable with two attachments. Then in the lower half there was a hard drive that connected with SATA. Now I have a Disc drive in one of the attachments and a hard drive in the other attachment.

For some reason when I have the hard drive plugged in the computer wont even recognize the disc drive at all, but when I unplug the hard drive the computer recognizes it fine. Anybody know a solution to this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Re: Strange Disc and Hard Drive Conflict.

check the jumpers on the drives
master on the end plug
slave to the middle plug
it sounds like you have them both jumpered to the same setting
