HD not detected on boot!

The Specs:

- Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939 (nForce3 Ultra)
- AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (2.4GHz)
- ATI HD2600PRO 512MB (AGP)
- Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2.0
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 400GB S-ATA 16MB Cache 7200RPM
- Sony DL DVD/CD/RW
- 1.5 MB DDR400 RAM
- Turbolink LC-A420ATX 12V (420W) PSU

Ok guys, I built this computer awhile ago (2005/2006?) and I've recently upgraded a few components including a new seagate barracuda 400GB sata drive (my old seagate barracuda 250GB died after 3 good years). All was well until I installed the drive and BIOS wouldn't even recognize it!

I don't think its a power issue since the drive is on and spinning. The drive is backwards compatible and is defaulted to 1.5Gb/s SATA1 speed settings which the mobo only allows. I've lost the floppy/cd drivers the mobo came with so I went and downloaded them off the gigabyte site and did the whole F6 third party drivers install process but drivers weren't "detected" on the floppy drive...

I've read some cases where the drivers weren't even needed and somehow miraculously windows installed "flawlessly" with almost the same setup as mine. Now, theoretically, the newer SATA2 drives are meant to be auto-detected without having to install third party drivers. However, my mobo seems its predestined for failure with its own sata ports/controllers

Any suggestions and/or comments will be appreciated!

Re: HD not detected on boot!

Download and run the manufacturer's drive utility and see if it recognizes the drive. If not and you can't see it is Bios with Sata Enabled, I would RMA that drive. It should be seen in bios normally.
