File recovery
Hi, I wasn;t sure where to put this but seeing as i have deleted stuff off my hardrive I put it here.
Due to my computer running slowly, crashing etc. I downloaded some freeware that had anti-virus and cleanup software. Anyway I allowed this program to run, stupidly not realising that over half my music gets saved to my temp file in local settings (I dont no why this is but have been lazy and never moved my music anywhere else) So this program eventually seemed to get rid of about 10gbs worth of music which obviously annoyed me. The software also automatically cleaned out my recycle bin, meaning I had no easy way of retrieving it. Since this happened (last night) I have learned it is possible to recover lost data using file recovery software, and have installed some freeware called pc inspector file recovery. This software is really confusing and to be honest I am getting knowehere using it. Nay hints, tips, alternative software would be appreciated as I really would not like to lose half my music! thanks |

Re: File recovery
Hi, I have been running the software suggested (and others) all night and day now and say I have recovered about 10-15% of my lost music.
I get a 'cyclic redunancy check' error about 25% qay through the scan. I believe this means a file is corrupted, but don't see why this would stop a scan alltogehter, of the recovery programs that work, this stops them in their tracks. I would like to believe if the whole scan would be completed I could get back the majority of my music, any ideas? thanks |
