[SOLVED] Usb 2.0 Hdd Hard Disk Drive Case External Enclosures

If I buy one of the products that belfast eddie suggested in a previous thread.. (a 3.5 USB 2.0 HDD HARD DISK DRIVE CASE EXTERNAL ENCLOSURE)

and insert a HDD that I removed from my laptop and has all my data from my laptop stored on it..

and then plug it into my Desktop PC.. will I be able to see all my data? - (That HDD will have never been out of the Laptop before, nor will it have been connected via my Desktop PC)

There is extremely important info that I need from the HDD and I cannot lose it at any cost.

Re: Usb 2.0 Hdd Hard Disk Drive Case External Enclosures

This would work as long as the enclosure case is the right type. I don't think laptop hard drives are 3.5" so you would need an enclosure designed to fit your hdd. most laptops use a 2.5 hard drive i think (and rarely it seems a 1.8). you will also need to know if it is ide or sata. with those two pieces of information you should be able to get the information off the hard drive (as long as its not encyrpted, then you may have a different issue of the information being protected).

I had to do this with a desktop hard drive which now I just use as an external for more space.

Re: Usb 2.0 Hdd Hard Disk Drive Case External Enclosures

You gave me the impression you wanted a 3.5 enclosure. If you are using a Laptop drive it will be a 2.5.
The answer to your question is basically yes. You could also use it in your desktop as a slave. ( no lets not go there).
