[SOLVED] Hard-drive ready to snuff it?
Hi, I'm having some problems with one of my two hard-drives.
My hard-drive is 250GB, and I've had it for a few months. It has already been replaced once via warranty, and I'd like to avoid doing it again if possible. The problem: Basically, my F:/ partition seems to be buggered. If I try to do pretty much anything to F:/ - install anything, ScanDisk, defragment the partition, extract a file, anything really - my computer locks up and needs rebooting. Any other partitions are fine. The other hard-drive is completely fine. However, this is a problem because my F:/ partition is used to install all my programs to, and the other partition on the same hard-drive (E:/) is used to store all my backup data. Bugger. So, anyone have any ideas on why this might be happening? Thanks guys 'n gals, Dave Edit: Just thought I'd say, it's not a virus as far as I can tell. Safemode doesn't fix it. Scandisk from pre-boot still freezes. System restore doesn't fix a thing. Last edited by Dave1271; 09-23-2008 at 08:23 PM. |

Re: Hard-drive ready to snuff it?
Hi there, thanks for the reply.
The problem seems to have been solved now, but thank you. Last night, I opened my PC, cleaned out all the dust, re-seated my graphics card, checked all the connections to the motherboard, replaced my SATA2 cables, and re-seated my RAM, and this seems to have solved the problem. Maybe it was just a loose SATA cable, or something! Thank you very much :) Dave |
