HDD Not Found !!?

I have a home-built Pentium D, 3.26GHz w/4GB RAM and 3 SATA HDDs (C,F,G) running Vista Home Premium. While loading a program onto G: (not the boot drive) installation locked up and couldn't back out. After rebooting the computer, G:\ drive disappeared from BIOS and hardware section of Windows. Tried System Restore but no help. Any way to recover the drive?

Go into Disk management (Start menu, Run, diskmgmt.msc)
Is it there?

How did you shut it down when it froze?

Went into Disk Mgmt: Not There. When the installation froze, all I could do is hit the computer reset. Task Mgr wasn't accessible.

Sounds like it may have died or the drives firmware could have been corrupted somehow. If it is still under warranty, send it back.

Put the drive in another computer as a slave and see if you can recover it that way. You might also try to download the utility from the hard drive manfacturer and see if that will fix the error.
