Cry WD Plug and Play Hard Drive Isn't Being Recognised

Hey Everyone!

i recently bought a WD external hard drive. It's 640 GB and it's plug and play. it had been working fine until just recently when it wasn't being recognised by my laptop. My OS for my laptop is Vista Home Premium.

Everytime i connect my hard drive to my laptop, noting pops up at all. i go to decvice manager and nothing shows there either. Sometimes (on rare occassions) it comes up with the Autoplay options and stuff and it'll work, but then 5-6 minutes later it disconnects on its own. I've plugged it into other laptops and computers to see if it did the same, and it did. I even plugged it into my PS3 and it did the same thing.

I've tried using other USB cables but it made no dfference.

This hard drive has alot of important stuff and i would REEAALLY appreciate it if someone could help me.
Please Help
