factors to be considered when buying hard drive
I'm considering to buy a new hard drive, am a bit skeptical to buy.please advice what are factors i should consider when going for it.also suggest good brands.

You might want to consider what your motherboard supports. Some older boards don't have Sata ports, so you have to either use IDE drives or put an add on card on. If you would post what motherboard you have, someone would be able to tell you.
Next, some of the newer boards only have one IDE connection so that limits you to 2 IDE drives. Now, if you have a CDRom and a separate DVD, then you would not have room (without an add on card) for an IDE hard drive. Good brand names are Western Digital and Seagate. There are other good drives out there, but the majority seem to use the above mentioned ones. Look for a drive with a bigger cache if they are nearly equal in price. Not sure what else you need, but if you will ask, we will try to assist.
