Failing Hard Drive Problem
I have been getting the same warning with my HP pavilion desktop. The OS HD is a 60 GB maxtor, although I only get the error when I leave the computer idle for more than 2 hours. I have already backed everything up on my slave 160 GB WD. I really don't have another PC available to dump the 160 gig drive on.... so I can't install the OS on it without formatting right? This is probably a stupid question but is there any way to install the OS on my 160 without re-formatting and losing all the files I have already backed up on it?
Also, long before the errors started, my hp wouldn't recognize the 160 western digital unless I re-formatted it. I couldn't figure it out but then again I'm not very computer literate....and this thing is like 9 years old. Help please? |

Re: HDD failure warning!
rcsander, you could use XXClone to clone the drive over to the 160, then remove the faulty one and you should be good to go. Don't forget to select the Cool Tools options to make the drive bootable. If you do it this way, you could try the drive after it is cloned without bothering your other failing drive in case you need it.
BTW, next time, start a new post for your problem instead of posting in a thead that might have a different solution or problem. Thank you. I have now moved you to a new thread all of your own.
