clone program and xp
used xxclone software to copy from an IDE to SATA drive; win xp/sp2 and other stuff on IDE. the cloning completes and says the drive SHOULD be bootable. I ran the "make target disk bootable" routine twice and no luck. It writes the MBR, the Boot Sector and Boot.ini and finishes.
I shut the machine off and unplug the ide and leave the sata. restart pc and it sees the sata drive (IF you ever get a SATA drive that you are pretty sure it works but the machine does not see it, try Jumpering pins 3,4 and put it back to SATA 1.0. IF your board has an older SATA controller it will not see a SATA 2.0 drive ). I reboot the pc and the boot.ini kicks in and runs xp. the splash screen comes up then it goes to the blue screen (not BSOD) and says "windows xp" for minutes and minutes on end. What the heck happened or did not happen?? XP just sits there with its thumb up its butt and does nothing till i reboot. It does know enough to run scandisk because of an improper shutdown, but it goes back to the same old crap and just sits there. I know the power connector has sufficient power and both sata cables were tested and are good. The IDE drive has no problem booting on that machine ever. What do I do now????
